Case Study:
CCAS Newsmagazine

The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University produces a twice yearly newsmagazine. The publication features writing about issues impacting the contemporary Arab world from scholars, students, and practitioners. Each issue features the work of an Arab or Arab-American artist.

Since 2013, I have re-designed the publication twice. See below for before and after covers.

BEFORE & AFTER

CCAS News to Newsletter to Newsmagazine

The newsletter used to be produced in-house, without a designer. The first redesign tightened up the layouts, and gave it a consistent look.

When a new editor took over in 2015, we revamped the publication to look more sleek. It was re-christened as a "newsmagazine." I simplified the cover, and gave the interiors more cohesion, flow, and white space. This allows the content to feel more show-cased, instead of shoe-horned.
